so i have been having trouble getting my bike started lately. so i was going over fuel lines to see if one was pinched off our something and i found something that i think might be the culprit. there is a harder fuel line that goes from the fuel filter to the fuel injector. this line crosses part of the frame and the throttle cable about 3 inches from where it hooks to the injector. when i feel the line at this point it has a dent on one side were it has been sitting on the frame. the other side has a big indent that matches the throttle cable. so with a dent on each side i would think that the line is closed off and not allowing the proper amount of fuel to the injector. are these dents supposed to be there?

I don't see those on my 06

Even though I dont have an EFI model I'd say the dents in the hose doesnt sound like they should be.I have the small harder hose on mine it goes from the fuel filter into the carb and it doesnt have any dents or pinches in it.

I will check mine tomorrow but it's a pressurized system so my guess is the dents wouldn't cause a hard start. Is it just cranking but not firing? I could see where loosing pressure would make it hard to start. Like a small air leak bleeding air in the line.

it is a harder plastic line. it cranks but won't fire. you have to sit there and crank it for like 30 seconds before it will even start. once it does start it will die a couple times then you have to let it sit and idle for a while because if you even touch the throttle it dies. a while back i had it started, loaded it in the back of my truck, took it to my house which is like a 10 minute drive, then when i went to unload it. it took forever to start. it has a new spark plug, i put premium gas in it to make sure that old gas wouldn't be an issue.

How many miles does it have on it? Have you replaced the fuel filter?

it has about 1500. i have replaced the fuel filter once. i have a new fram one sitting in my truck that i am going to put in it. it is wierd how it happened though. i went an a 30 mile ride bike ran perfect. came home washed it. put it in the trailer. bike still running perfect. the bike sits for a month, i go and put my new exhaust on and the bike wont start. couple weaks later go for a ride and the bike is hard to start and so on. it has been like that ever sinse.

Did you try putting your stock pipe back on?

no. i forgot to add that i tried to start it before i put my new pipe on. it wouldn't start with the stock one.

That last ride you mentioned was it a muddy ride? Maybe the vent in the pod is bad or clogged. Do you let your fuel pump cycle before you turn the key to start it?

it was a muddy ride but nothing real deap. it was pretty much all dried up nothing past the top of the tires. i do let my pump cycle before i start it. i can here it turn on.

I would try and cycle the fuel pump a few times before you start it and see if that helps. If that does help maybe the pump is bad. Like I said before I'll check my lines tomorrow. But my guess is a bad pump or your bleeding air in the line some where.

ok. i was thinking of trying that. but if you could check your line then i can go from there.

Inspect the vent tube in you pod as well might as well check everything.

K&N Air Filter? ...Sounds funny I know but, I have heard that sometimes oil from the filter will actually get pulled "through" into the throttle body along with the crud its supose to stop and cause problems with the EFI...Been told to get rid of the K&N and get a "UNI" filter instead. (its on order)

Maybe water in the tank. Add some gas line dryer and see if that helps?

I forgot about that one but thats a good possibility as well.

i used to have a k & n filter but i took it off for the crud reason. i have taken my air box off and sprayed the throttle body with cleaner. it is clean. i will try water remover.

throttle body is clean. i have new gas in it and i also put a bit of water remover in as well. fuel pump is working perfectly fine. i took some pics of the hose, they are a bit blurry.

the pinch is the dark black circle on the hose

look at the red part in the background. now look at the black stripe to the right of it. foloow the black stripe to were is meets the hose. you can see a darker black area on the hose. that is the pinch.
