Tranny plate??

Does anyone know if the transmission can be taken apart while it is still on the bike. Like not completely I just wanted to remove the face plate to just get an idea of whats wrong with it. Can this be done? I will only be home for a little while so i was hoping I could just look in there and see what parts I need so I can order them..

ALSO, DOes anyone know if the 2006 500 efi transmissions are the same as the old ones?

although it might be possible to split the case while still on the machine, i would not reccomend it, to properly diagnose whatever problem you have, you need to have it on a bench. may need something you cannot see while still on the machine.
