Guys & gals, I need some help here.
I've been in contact with a few local atv parks asking them if they would consider hosting a mud bog competition, and haven't had much luck with good responses yet, until now.
Yesterday I received this email from a park owner, but I'm not really sure how to go about replying to his questions. Can somebody help me out here with this please:

Hello Mark: We somewhat interested in talking to you more about a mud bog event. We would need to know what type of vehicles would participate and how many people you would expect. Also are these events put on by an orginazation and if so what is its name. I have never been to one of these events and have no experience running one.

Thanks

Tom Enyeart

Hey, if you think that there would be plenty of people that would come to one, i have a mud pit in my back yard man, like 5ft by 25 ft.. If some one has a tractor we could make it bigger...

I would have to have people sign a wavier <--spell? but id be willing...

There is also a track and jumps as you can see:

let me know..

Man I'd friggin LOVE to have the land so I could build my own pit like that, or wider. Heck that would be great to practice and play in.
But for competition purposes it would have to be like 30' wide...enough for 3 or 4 bikes to run at the same time.

mrwilliamsrzr

gotcha.. Yeah that would be a bit to big for the side yard...

What about Brushyridge?? have you called them yet?

And i know another private owned place where there is already a mud pit that big.. Trucks run in it all the time..

Rebel64

Yeah I've had a reply from Gary Williams, the owner of Brushy, and this was his response:

We held one once and did'nt have a good turnout, so I dont know if I would do it again or not. Thanks Gary

Although it's not a no for an answer, I'd still need more info to convince him to hold one.

Where is this private place located at with the big pit?

mrwilliamsrzr

Not to far from my house... Actually.. Have you heard of Oak Run?

What kinda info are you looking to send these parks?

It would be cool to beable to promise $500.00 for them, and then hope there is 500.00 worth of people to compeate...if not (you) or whoever would have to suck up the rest....

Rebel64

No, never heard of it.

mrwilliamsrzr

Oak Run is a HUGE lake outside of Galesburg, its like a really big private lake side place..Anyway the guy live on a farm out there...

I will get ahold of him in the coming days and let you know.. Also.. i know a guy that owns a junk yard and hes really cool.... if there is money involved and his name can be put on something...He might do it....

Everyone would have to bring a tire to throw on the fire tho..LOL

Awesome man, thanks for the help!
We really need to get events like this up here. I get sick of hearing about all the stuff happening down south, and the only thing that happens here is the big arena gigs with trucks and MX bikes.

i know... They are all over youtube...and everytime i watch one i think about it...

There are some dumb ones tho... They do have Overlanders mud drags up here.. all last year...

let me make a call and see when they are starting them up again...

just let him know that there will be 4weelers only(to make it easy) and the amount will depend on the park & how mutch avtersing-sp you do
dose this park have a lot of water or just dirt there are a lot of people that will come just for the bogg but if they have good riding it will help

good luck , im trying to do a charity(MS) run in april at doles, ga its a lot of work

Ok thanks Amy, I guess giving him a simple yet honest answer would be a good start.
His park is on coal mine grounds and has a few big lakes on it, but not that deep, along with several areas he could get by with digging a bog pit for.
The park does have a lot of go-fast and MX bikes show up, so it's got something for everybody.
Here's the link to his site: http://www.gobhill.com/

Good luck on your project also...and yes it sure is a lot of hard work.

Yanno, I had thought about sending him a message, but figured we wouldn't be big enough for them to have any interest. I guess it's worth a shot though...thanks for the suggestion.
And yes, I'll definitely advertise the event on a lot of different forums if I can make something happen.

I still haven't been able to get ahold of CHAD bout tryin to set up a boggin event reb....Things at home haven't been real great for him so..... But he USUALLY calls bout every week so.........
Out there where he's livin now they've been making a new 4 lane road and we went out in it and let me tell you that coulda been a mud bog event in and of itself... COMPLETELY muddy.. Wish we'd f got some pics of it... But I'm sure the camera might not of made it as wet and muddy as we got. It was a blast though.. Like in the middle of the two lane was a deep azz PIT all the way down the LOOOOONG road and alot of it was clay mud but ome of it was that watery mud you know... then there was this one place I called the mud cliff.. it was just where they had dug into the hill (tall one at that) and you could climb up it on the quad but at the bottom it was like a big pond of deep mud.... run around in it like a track.... It was a blast....

Rebel64
01-15-2008, 12:33 PM
Ok no problem...just give me a holler when you hear something from him. I'm still working on Atkinsons up here too.
That road does sound like a good time...I suppose all the construction equipment did all the pre-work for you on making a bog! :)

Updates:
Chatted with Kevin from Mudders Magazine the other day and he's all in for helping out to get a bog event happening here. Thanks for that suggestion Amy!! :)
Also been in touch with the owner (Tom) of Atkinsons again about this, and they are definitely interested now that they have more info from Kevin and myself.

Dates haven't been discussed yet, but who all here would be willing to jump in the pit?

mrwilliamsrzr
01-23-2008, 06:35 PM

Rebel64
01-23-2008, 06:38 PM
:) Good deal buddy! I'm not sure what class the RZR would be in, but if there's enough support from other SXS riders I'm sure he would include those too.

mrwilliamsrzr
01-23-2008, 06:48 PM
well, every one is Sue <-- spell?? happy, i f i crash my stuff at a atv park, and i get hurt, i think thats on me...

on the other hand, if im at a ATV park.. and say... Crossing a bridge made for riding on and the damn thing collapses, then i might make a pfone call..

Rebel64
01-23-2008, 06:49 PM
Thanks Tork...and along with the closures, all we hear about is the big events happening down south. I REALLY want to get things happening up this way, other than the normal 4X4 truck events.
