Posting for a friend that I have ridden with many times.

2009, 650I, carb Kawi, full snorkel, everything vented, a very trustworthy dealer even looked it over for him to double check.

Everytime he gets in water, just past his floorboards his bike cuts out, like a bad spark plug boot getting wet and killing the bike. Only thing is, we traced them out, they look 100%, di electric grease, the whole 9 yards. But, again, he's got a great dealer and they replaced both spark plug wire harnesses for him anyways under warranty. Same thing, as soon as he gets in water it kills the bike. He's swamped the bike twice now, both times were because of the stalling problem, hit the water, bike stalls, can't get his hand on the exhaust pipe quick enough and it floods the motor.
He lives just a few miles from awesome riding through a river, over hills and rocks, but in some places the water is 2-4 feet deep, so until we get it figured out he can't even ride in his own back yard.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

Have you guy's checked all the vent lines? There is one right under the motor, you have to remove the skid plate and it is right there. It has a one way valve but you never know. And also the gas tank vent also has a one way valve but they shoved it in the frame for some reason. Other then that, like you already said grease every thing.

Bad ground maybe. Or did you check the battery connections?

My guess is the breather right under themotor it's just pushed up under the skid plate

I was positive we traced everything out, I've never owned a Carb'ed bike though so maybe we missed it? We'll have to triple check this time lol

Last time he took it into the dealer they said they checked everything out electrical wise and it all passed. Bike was almost brand new at the time when he started having issues. What we don't get is he had gone through the river 10 times before he snorkeled it without a problem. Now that it's snorkeled he can't go anywhere. Which is why we were lead to beleive the vents weren't done properly, but like I said we traced everything out and it all looked good. Maybe we just have to do it again lol Thanks guys

How about the air box drain it is(when sitting on the bike) right side towards the front of the bike, it should have a plug in it.

My old 700 prairie would start to sputter bad when in deep water. I stripped the plastics off and greased every single connection and that solved my problem, I could play in the water all day after that.
