The battery in my sons 50cc is dead. Its less than 4 months old but because he has no intrest in riding it now it has gone dead from lack of use. The fluid was also WAY low. Some cells had only 50% fluid in them.
Its filled up but still wont take much of a charge. Is their anything i can do to bring it back to life before i sell it?
what are you charging it with, if its filled put a 10 amp charge on it for like 15 min-1/2 hour then back to trickle for 2-3 hours, sometimes this will fry the crap out, not always though, its probably a 4L-BS battery as thats the common 50 battery, you should be able to get a cheapy less than $20

Yep its a 4L-B
I was only using a 2A charge but i will try & run it at 15A like you said.
Its already dead so it wont make it any worse.

Yes a new battery & then return the old one a few days later & tell them it wont hold a charge.
Heck the old one is new. The bike has only been run about 3 times since it was installed & that was only on the lawn. We only got the bike last X-mass.

Its totally dead. It only has enough power to light the LED break light.
If i keep the bike i think i will pull all the electronic remote shut off junk that it came with & see if that helps. It must have some kind of short or something to keep draining the battery the way it does.

is that the one that was won??? if so why not contact the dealer??

Yes it is the one my wife won.
JJ made it quite clear this bike comes with no warranty.
He no longer even sells this brand, & I have talked with him several time & got basically no help!
Not only does it keep killing the battery. This is the second one. It also seams to have a clutch problem where it barely has enough power to climb even the smallest hill. Im talking on my lawn not in the bush.
I even changed the sprockets from 14t-37t to 12t-40t This helped but still not enough.

hmmm interesting dilema, i would guess that a new one will just get killed, what about adding a main shut off for the whole bike when its parked?? that might save some hassle and replaceing battery's

That is what i was thinking.
But my son NEVER rides the thing. If he starts to show intrest by the end of summer i might get some upgrades for it but if he only wants to play on his PC then its going up for sale as is.
I can get a 50cc to 70cc upgrade kit, 8500 or 10000rpm cdi box, air filter & jet kit for about $200 from this place.

how old is he?? does it maybe require the influence of another rider (child) to help get him going, i know my son just cant wait to go to my buddies farm and ride as much as he can, he actually ran out of fuel today, ok it was out of range of the on setting and had to go to reserve but you get the point. I know he is starting to get really into as he explores more and more and we go on longer rides along the trail there.

He is 8 but he takes after his real father *im his step dad* & would sit in front of the TV or computer 24/7 I we would let him.
I just hope he turns out to be another Bill Gates.;)
His 3-year-old sister has more interest than he does.
A riding buddy might help but all is friends are IDIOTS that I would not trust with a tricycle.
We have had most of them over to try it out & all I can say is never again.

I hear ya about some being able and some are not, i was more thinking my son maybe for an afternoon, i think there is somewhere we could meet with the machines and the kids and a have a blast of a day, i know my son would be in. was more of a option to help more than anything else, i know it took some coaxing for my step daughter to get in to it but she still isnt a great fan just does it more to be able to have the machine and say she has everything her younger brother has, if ya know what i mean.

I know what you mean. My daughter would cry if i even turned the bike on & she was not on it. She has her own now but still needs a few uears to be able to ride it properly.
Maby we can get together for a day. Its worth a thaught.

I was reading this post and I am having the same issues with my daughters 50cc Yamoto. Im on my second battery and it still doesnt keep a charge. My daughter has also lost interest in it at the moment cause every time I try to start it I have to charge the battery first .. Im thinking those bikes have bad electrical issues . last summer we had to disconnect the lights to save power and the remote control that stops and alarms it was also not used. Something is obviously draining these Batteries... I like the idea of a main shut off... thanks Brian I will have to look into that cause I'm tired of buying batteries

it should be a simple install, it only needs a heavy duty switch, you can get them at crappy or home depot im sure.
Riven as for a day of riding IM IN, just got to find an area where the kids can have some fun and not get beat all to hell. We have access to a trailerr up there so we have a place to stay, its just south of sprucedale.

My daughters Suzuki 50 barely has enough power to get out of its own way after chaging sprokets as well. These quads are a lot of weight for a 50cc motor heck my whipper snipper has 36cc and I can choke it in the grass. sounds like a master shut off is the way to go or contact the manufacturer directly to see what they have to say.

Ok I hope you guys don't mind this...with a multimeter set to DC amperes, remove the positive terminal on the battery. Put one probe on the battery positive and the other on the removed terminal. This will show how many amps or mili-amps are being drawn from the battery when it's not running. After that it's a matter of eliminating loads. Ex; lights, charge coils or even could be a crap brake light switch. Just keep watching the meter untill it goes down. Hope this helps the next time you run into this kind of problem. Even my own had a dead battery only to find that the regulator was unplugged LOL

Good advice. I hava a feeling its the remote stop that is pulling power.
Now can someone teach me how to use the meeter i have had for 8 years.
Its got lots of fancy dials & such but i ant got a friggin idea what any of them mean.LOL
The one at work actually says OUCH on the screen when you set it wrong. I dont think mine has the ability to save it self from getting fried when i have it on the wrond setting.
