Wondering if you have to remove the enitre axle just to replace the outer cage/boot? Thanks for the help....

Not really...but why not just remove the axle from the diff....easier to work with...you can clean and re-grease the diff splines. The hard part is behind you anyway---hub off, A arms, ball joint loose.

If just a trail repair I would do it quick and dirty but in the comfort of a garage, vice, and cold beers etc....

Besides the fact that most times when trying to pop the outer off with the other end still in the diff, you run the risk of popping the plunge joint loose inside the boot :frusty: or at the least the axle will pop from the diff anyways.

At least that has been my experience/luck .....
