Lol!!. I tought about doing this on my Rinny, but didn't knew how to control the speed of the fan depending of the throtle position. Just another stupid idea of mine... Lol

LOL. At wide open throttle, I bet that is actually a restriction if its in the pipe going into the airbox.

Customer Complaint: Bike will not Idle.

Here's what I found.

Choke cable cut off at the carb, base is in place and hole is siliconed closed. Customer using primer to start bike.
Pilot jet needle set at 4 turns out and the sealing o-ring is missing.
Main needle jet missing, the little metal coller that set in the ventura that the main needle gos through.

Robbed a couple of parts from a spare carb on hand, cleaned, reassembe, reinstalled carb.

Bike purrrrrs like a kitten but you still have to start with primer when cold. Customer did not want to put the choke back to the way it is suppose to be.

Definately a restriction but I bet it makes a cool "turbo" noise when the air rushes over it lol. Or perhaps it's being used like a wind turbine to help keep the battery topped off lol.

Took it for a test ride, run good till mid throttle then it starts coughing a sputtering. Removed the air box cover(Note, end of air box is sealed) Runs perfect. How does someone expect an engine to breath through a peice of 1 inch pvc.

Maybe he designed it like that as a rev limiter for when the kids take it out? lol

not a good way to govern it! ha
You can buy electric turbos for cars, I've seen a few gain as much as 150 whp!
But the extra weight of the extra battery probably robs most of the gains!

On the bright side I'm 90% done putting a Factory Mud Pro Snorkel on a 2008 Thunder Kitty. Waiting on a few back orderred parts. Customer wants a rad relocation kit installed. Rubber down needs to get the prototype done. I can sell two right now.

Sleep, um, Whats that.

I can do a factory snorkel job in about 3 hours, depending on how many trips I have to make to the coffie pot and wether or not I have to make to have it.

Carb job is an hour to hour and half depending on which bike it's coming out of. That includes soak time.

I had a little slack time today so I start working on my Arctic Cat Advanced Certification. I have my General Certification.

The Advance Certification consist of 5 on line 50 question tests.

2 Cycle Engines
4 Cycle Engines
Drivetrain
Electrical/Ignition Systems
Fuel Systems Carb/EFI

I took the Electrical Systems and Drivetrain tests today and passed both on the first attempt, 84 on the Electrical 92 on the Drivetrain. My goal is to finished the advanced requirements by Friday of next week.

Then onto the Cat Master Certification.

I found out at the update seminar that there is only one Master Tech in my region out of over 25 dealers. There going to be two pretty quick :)

Completed drive train test, took two trys to pass, too many bike in the test I haven't seen yet. 80 on the first attempt, 80 is not passing 81 is, missed by one on the first try.

Test for 4 cycle and 2 cycle left.

2 Cycle may be a bear, never touched or seen a two cycle Arctic Cat, no snowmobiles in Texas and I have no referance material on two strokes.

There a lot of questions on the test concerning 90cc 2 stroke, my parts manual doesn't even show a 2 stroke 90.

Only two strokes I've work on are GM Marine Deisels 71 series and the 149 TI the later where V-16's. 2 superchargers and 4 turbo chargers

Oh, I worked on a weed eater once, threw it in the trash and went and got a new one. $90.00 wasn't worth the hassle.

P.S. I hate working on anything that uses a pull rope to start it.

Had another one today!!!

Customer bring in 08 650 H1, Customer complaint: bike constaintly fouling plugs. States he got water in the gas from a gas station but he drained the gas tank by turning the bike over in a ditch.

I asked if he had ever been into the carb. his answer was he pulled the bowl of to drain the carb. but carb has never been out of bike.

Customer is the original owner as confirmed through Arctic Cat.

Ran compression test, test good 140 psi.

Removed carb from bike, first thing I notice is all the screw heads are stripped. dissassemble carb, full of trash, jets have corrosion on them and trash in them. Pilot jet is bottomed out and the o-ring and washer is missing. Choke valve is cocked and jambed in choke bore.

Soaked carb, cleaned and reassemble. New pilot needle, spring, washer and o-ring. Went to check float setting and it was set so low I don't know how it was getting any gas at all.

Test run good.
