Has any one been ridding at Base Borden? What permit do you need and how do you get it?

I've only heard of the Mike Holmes ride there, didn't know that U could run on the base at all. Thats the place for a mud bog event for sure.

The holmes ride is early this year, May 14th. Will be a good test for snorks as a lot of the trail uses the Tank training tracks and those tanks make some DEEP holes..LOL

Never rode there but our Club up till last year organized and ran the Holmes ride and most say the trails are way too dusty in summer so MAy should be way better specially if its a wet spring!

Already downloaded, filed out and mailed, but all it says is "Base Borden Rod and Gun" no address or anything, looked up the site for the club and all it has is a P.O. Box #

From Midland/Barrie: Take Highway 400 to Dunlop Street West (formerly Highway 90). Drive west through the Town of Angus to the North Base Gate. On the Base, routes to parking areas and to the site will be marked.

From Toronto/Alliston: Take Highway 400 or County Road 27 (formerly Highway 27) to Simcoe Regional Road 89 West. Drive west to the Town of Alliston, then proceed north on Simcoe County Road 15 to the South Base Gate. On the Base, routes to parking areas and to the site will be marked.

Thats directions to the base...the rod n gun club normally have it well signed to the actual event parking etc.

I just caught your shirts when we were leaving the staging area and never saw you the rest of the day. I was in group 3...5 hours for the first 20km, when will people learn "pin it to win it" doesn't always work? I used my winch more for other people today than I have in the last two years!! Good time though!

you were lucky...we got stuck in group 4 due to tire size... unfortunately around 8 ppl think stock tires on crappy bikes are classed as extreme or modified bikes, including 2 of the Military Police...by the time we got to the carnage your group caused the only bikes made it through were Mine, 850xpeps's and the pearl necklace ...I only used 4wd around 3 times but i spent 5 1/2 hours pushing bikes through 8km of slop...was insane and i honestly can't belive there are soo many retards out there who have no clue how to ride...when a bike with 15" of clearance gets high sided...and the 10 bikes behind have 8" and stock tires...don't follow ...take the bypass.

so many idiots just pinning it was unreal.

up side was all 3 machines that left the "FFS" shop made it without an issue...the Pearl got it's maiden trip and out performed several XMR's that really p!$$ed off our group that had 3 or 4 XMR's....(shows its not the bike but the rider i guess..LOL). Had the 2 cops well trained in how to mud ride and me and ken found some great tank track runs that really tested out the bikes and snorks..LOL

Hope we got a bunch of good vid...but most of it is probably me pushing the cop bikes out..LOL

We only made it to the first fire truck wash station and it took 5 1/2 hrs so we bailed at that point and followed a group heading back that turned out to be a bad move coz 20 solid rear axle hondas in front proved too much for the 6" ruts :( again...another hour of waiting for idiots that need to learn what their machines are and are NOT capable..LOL

TOP TOP side was our 3 bikes got a LOT of attention and especially the rad kits, including Mike Holmes Daughter, boyfriend, Mikes brother and a bunch of the TV crew who were all over kens bike when we were loading up...all were directed to RDC..LOL..also got to see Melanies Pink n white thundercat and her hubbys AWESOME tricked out RZR4....by far the sweetest ride there today!!

but our best part of the day by far was when we left the base and WAY before we even got off the camp lawns we passed the first breakdown of the day...and it WASN'T me!!!

also lost 2 grizzlys and 3 canams from our group to major breakdowns...but ALL our groups popos made it back without calling in the carnage wagons..LOL

long day...way too much time spent pushing bikes...but beer is cold now...

The only real carnage I saw was the 2 week old 700 mud pro flip 3 times right in front of me, we were on the sand trail alongside the road 2 min from the end while doing 20km/h...luckily the rookie wasn't hurt, except for his pride, and helmet...and front tire...and handlebars...and rear rack...and rear plastics...

It's his first atv and had less than 200km on it, but was riding it like an idiot all day, my buddy and I called it when we got to the firetruck...if he keeps riding like that, something bad is going to happen...sure enough
